Dr. Burks is a native of Benton, Arkansas, and he returned to the area with his wife and three sons to begin practicing in 1999. Prior to this, Dr. Burks completed his residency in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at Winona Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, and a trauma and reconstructive surgery fellowship at Graz University in Graz, Austria.

Dr. Burks has published more than 20 papers and has had the opportunity to lecture both nationally and internationally. He is closely involved in the development and use of new surgical implants, and his special interests include total ankle arthroplasty and reconstruction of the severely deformed foot and ankle using Ilizarov techniques.
